ACT Writing Prompts — ACT Practice 9

As teenagers grow physically and socially, they inevitably begin thinking about sex. Many students are curious about it and have numerous questions, while others go so far as to actually experience it. There are some who claim that it should be the role of high school health classes to actively teach students about sex, including abstinence, contraception, and disease. Others, however, insist that it is solely the responsibility of parents to teach their children what is best, and schools need to stay out of such a serious matter. In your opinion, should health classes teach students about sex?

In your essay, take a position on this question. You may write about either one of the two points of view given, or you may present a different point of view on this question. Use specific reasons and examples to support your position.
